Welcome Becki DeVries

We are so excited to welcome Becki to the Pop Up Yoga family. Right now Becki will be joining us as a sub, but we hope to share her teachings regularly with you all soon.

Becki and her family moved to Ojai shortly before the pandemic hit. She had just a small window to share her gifts with some local yoga studios there before everything shut down. In the meantime she's been teaching online and a few private venues in Ojai. We're excited to officially bring her teaching and her extension of gifts (including music) to the greater Ventura Community.

Give her a follow on Instagram: @becki.yoga

She's also been releasing some incredible music lately. Follow her on Spotify: Becki Devries music

In 3-4 sentences tell us about the evolution of your yoga practice: Five years ago I found myself riddled with chronic pain baFling all kinds of autoimmune diseases and starGng treatment for LYME Disease. Being an athlete my enGre life, not being able to work out for so long was really messing with my mental health as well as physical. I took my first step into a yoga studio and began my healing journey. Yoga not only helped my body and mind heal but also my heart and soul. It only took 2 months to know I wanted this in my life forever so I dove head first into YTT (Yoga Teacher Training), and haven’t looked back. It’s now a daily pracGce for me, that has been my proof that I am only just beginning.

What’s one thing you wish you could tell yourself when you began your yoga prac-ce: To be kind and paGent with myself, the 1% change makes the 100% whole, it might take Gme but I promise soon you’ll be able to bring that hip all the way thru without any trouble for Warrior I.

In 1-2 sentences why do you teach yoga: I teach to give the giV I’ve been given. To prove that Yoga is for literally EVERY BODY. Doesn’t maFer what shape, size, gender, fitness level, flexibility, health. Yoga is for anyone who wants to heal. Come and breathe.

How long have you taught: I started teaching four years ago aVer I graduated YTT.

If you could have lunch with any inspira-on individual (dead or alive) who and why: Mother Teresa . To listen and learn how she loved in the face of injusGce, disease, sacrifice, incredible adversity, hate, etc.

Favorite Treat: Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt OR Orange Chili

Favorite Book: Ooooffff SO many. Currently Anatomy of the Spirit.

How many countries have you been to: 9 Spirit Animal: Unicorn. One thing we don’t know about you: I was the ghost vocal for many a pop star in the early 2000’s. If you grew up during those years it’s likely you have heard my voice most of your childhood/teen years.

One thing we don’t know about you: I grew up in a farming community in Minnesota with less than 1,000 people, no traffic lights, 1 grocery store and a graduating class of 32.
